Chefs’ & Cooks Culinary Club of Wisconsin, Inc. 2007 Chef of the Year LOUIE DANEGELIS
On Sunday November 4, 2007 Chef Louie was presented with the 2007 Chef of the Year Award at Westmoor Country Club. Louie’s culinary interest first formed as a young boy working in his father’s restaurant in Chicago on Commission Row. He later attended cooking school in Madison and Milwaukee. After his formal training he went to work for several prestigious restaurants, country clubs and caterers in the Metro Milwaukee area.
In 1972 Louie went on to become Chef Instructor at WCTC. His students were always inspired when they saw his passion. In 1986 Louie retired from teaching and with his wife Lisa, started Lee John’s Catering. In 1991 Louie achieved one of his goals of becoming a certified Chef Educator and a certified Executive Chef. His thirst for knowledge continues and he has developed his own unique style infusing the standards of old world cooking with today’s food trends and ethnic flair.
